On July 13, Sweida witnessed deadly clashes between armed groups affiliated with the Transitional Government in Syria and local fighters from the province. The fighting left around 1,990 people dead on both sides, including 1,490 from Sweida. Among them, 765 were summarily executed by gunfire from members of the Ministries of Defense and Interior of the Transitional Government in Syria, according to the latest figures from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

In addition to the killings, the SOHR documented 293 cases of Druze women being kidnapped during the events. 42 were later released, while 2 remain detained in Adra Prison in Damascus without trial or clear charges. 14 women were killed after being abducted, leaving the fate of 235 kidnapped women still unknown.
