Evin Swed: Internal Security Forces – Women contribute to strengthening community security

This morning, the Fourth Conference of the Internal Security Forces – Women in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria was launched at Serdem Hall in Hasakah, with the participation of around 600 figures, including conference delegates and members of various women’s organizations and movements such as the Kongra Star, the Zenobia Women’s Gathering, and the Families of Martyrs Council, in addition to representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration and members of the Internal Security Forces – Women from various departments (Asayish, Traffic, and others).

The conference featured several speeches, including one by Evin Swed, co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. She emphasized that since the start of the Freedom Revolution in North and East Syria, women have proven themselves not only as participants but as pioneers in the revolutionary movement, carrying values of sacrifice and responsibility, and actively shaping a democratic project based on justice and equality.

Evin Swed explained that the women of the Internal Security Forces have demonstrated that defending and protecting society is inseparable from building an ethical and humane system, where women assume leadership, organizational, and initiative roles. She stressed that women in the Internal Security Forces play a decisive role in consolidating community security, safeguarding the revolution’s achievements, and confronting various forms of crime and terrorism, saying: “In this, they embody the true meaning of the slogan ‘Protecting society is a shared responsibility.’”

She noted that what distinguishes this experience is that it is not limited to military or security protection alone, but also includes promoting a culture of peace and awareness, and acting with a spirit of ethical responsibility toward every individual in society.

Evin Swed also paid tribute to the souls of the female martyrs who gave the most precious they had for the sake of freedom, becoming beacons guiding future generations and symbols of an unbreakable women’s will.

She added: “Adopting a co-chair system and involving women in all aspects of administration and society is clear evidence that the political and social project in North and East Syria places genuine equality at the foundation of a democratic, pluralistic Syria.” She added: “These steps are not just achievements; they represent a historic shift in the path of women’s and societal liberation, which must be preserved and defended against all attempts at regression or distortion.”

Evin Swed also pointed to the challenges facing Syria and the region, affirming that the need today is greater than ever to escalate women’s struggle and expand their role in politics, defense, security, and culture.

In conclusion, Evin Swed congratulated the convening of the conference affirming the support of the Autonomous Administration for every effort that strengthens the organization of free women and consolidates their pioneering role in defense and development. She concluded: “Your success is the success of our entire society and an additional step toward a democratic, free, pluralistic Syria founded on equality and justice.”
