Emergency Minister in Interim Government visits Hasakah Governor

Raed al-Saleh, Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management in Syria’s Interim Government, visited Hasakah Governorate today, where he was received by Hasakah Governor Nour al-Din Ahmed. The meeting was attended by a delegation from the Autonomous Administration of al-Jazira Canton, including co-Chairs Vivian Bahou Osi and Hassan Sharo, Administration Advisor Jian Hassan, as well as representatives from the Social Affairs and Labor Authority, the Fire Brigade, mine-clearance organizations, and representatives of displaced persons from Serekaniye/Ras al-Ain and Afrin.

According to the Hasakah Governorate’s media office, the visit aimed to review the current state of service delivery in the governorate and to explore avenues for coordination between the two sides in order to enhance emergency response and improve institutional performance and services provided to residents.

During the meeting, participants discussed mechanisms for integrating institutions and improving service levels, particularly in the areas of disaster management and rapid response. They also assessed the readiness of specialized personnel and ways to better utilize accumulated expertise to ensure a more stable and secure environment for the community.

The meeting also reviewed a coordination project being implemented by the Autonomous Administration in cooperation with the Social Affairs and Labor Authority, involving mine-clearance organizations, the Fire Brigade, and the Emergency Committee, with the aim of raising field readiness. In this context, the ministry presented its training plans, emphasizing the need to involve staff from institutions affiliated with the Interim Government in joint training programs abroad.

Participants stressed the necessity of conducting a new field survey in conflict-affected areas due to renewed landmine contamination and accelerating the issuance of clearance permits for mine removal, given their direct impact on civilian safety. They also discussed establishing a new framework for joint operations based on the agreement concluded between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Interim Government, in order to ensure role complementarity and unify efforts in addressing humanitarian and service-related challenges.
