Education Authority affirms its commitment to ensuring success of examination process

The co-chair of the Education Authority in the North and East Syria region, Khalaf al-Matar, emphasized the importance of addressing the examination process for the basic education and secondary school certificates in all their branches.

The Education Authority made exceptional efforts through communication with UNICEF and the Ministry of Education under the Damascus Authority, leading to a face-to-face meeting in Damascus between the Authority's delegation and the Ministry's delegation on April 13 and 14, 2025.

Khalaf al-Matar highlighted the key points agreed upon, such as facilitating registration procedures, extending the deadline to accommodate all students, enabling them to take exams in their areas, and forming a temporary joint committee to manage the examination process using the Damascus curriculum in North and East Syria.

The Education Authority also took a proactive step by opening registration centers for students wishing to apply for the Damascus Authority curriculum, with the aim of reducing the burden of transportation and travel. However, the Damascus Authority has not responded regarding these examination centers.

Despite the hope that these agreements have restored to students and parents, al-Matar pointed to the ongoing challenges due to the lack of an official response from the Ministry of Education to date, despite the approaching exam date.

Al-Matar emphasized that the Education Authority has made every effort to ensure the success of the examination process, and called on the Ministry of Education to "move quickly and respond to the terms of the agreement to guarantee the rights and future of students."

Al-Matar expressed the authority's commitment to monitoring the educational process in accordance with the autonomous administration's curricula and working to achieve justice and success for all students in the region.
