With the increasing frequency of attacks by the Turkish occupation army on the Mediya defense zones, movements of the so-called "Peshmerga Roj" have emerged in areas adjacent to the Mediya defense zones, and there is talk of these forces playing a role in attacks against the Mediya defense forces.

The former colonel in the so-called" Peshmerga Roj," Riad Salah al-Din, spoke to ANHA's agency about the so-called" Peshmerga Roj," the purpose of their establishment, and their subordination.

After having joined the ranks of the so-called "Peshmerga Roj" for a period of time, Riad Salah al-Din returned to Rojava and joined the protection classes of the Academies of the Self-Protecting Forces in the North and East of Syria. He addressed the beginning of the founding of the so-called "Peshmerga Roj" and the contradictions that had emerged. He said: "I made promises that it would not be under any political umbrella and that its purpose and tasks would be here in Southern Kurdistan, but nevertheless it became the military facade of the Kurdish National Council, moving according to its own agenda and policies hostile to Rojava, trained by the Turkish Gendarma."

Riad Salah al-Din revealed: "For years, they have been fighting against elements and leaders demanding to return to Rojava and to fight ISIS/ Daesh alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces SDF, including myself, and because of my insistence on this, I was put together with 60 elements in prison for four months, and we were released and placed under house arrest, all because we did not go into their schemes."

Salah al-Din noted that, after a period of time, the Turkish army intervened in their training and revealed: "We have confirmed that the formation of this force is to combat the SDF and Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA), the Kurdistan Liberation Movement, and the fact that we saw in Khansur the attack by Peshmerga Roj on the Shengal Protection Forces as evidence of this. This incident has had a huge impact on us."

On his return to North and East Syria, he said: "We have decided to return to our homeland and our people, and there was a special war and systematic mutilation against the SDF and DAA. Peshmerga Roj deluded us by saying that they would kill anyone who returned there, which was refuted as we returned, where we were well received."

Salah al-Din touched upon attempts to involve the so-called Peshmerga Roj in its war against the People's Defense Forces HPG and said,The Turkish State has not succeeded in attacks against the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and has failed so badly, so it wants to use Peshmerga Roj in its attacks against HPG in Mediya and to shed Kurdish blood at the hands of the Kurds; the Kurds must stop these attempts.

According to informed military sources, “So far, approximately 500 soldiers from the Peshmerga Roj have defected, 200 of whom returned to Rojava, and 300 emigrated to Europe.”
