Displaced villagers from Berxbotan demand to fast Ramadan at home

For the 31st consecutive day, factions of the Syrian Interim Government have continued to impose a siege on the city of Kobani, which has received more than 200,000 displaced people from various areas following attacks by the factions in January.

With the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, displaced people from Berxbotan village, currently residing in schools in Kobani, expressed their opinions about the difficulties they face during the holy month.

In this context, displaced woman Zozan Mohammed explained that they settled in Kobani schools after being displaced and that they lack food and water. She said: "Ramadan has come, so how can we spend this month in schools without food, water, or fuel? The Interim Government claims to be Islamic, so where is the Islam? During Ramadan, everyone is displaced from their homes. A week ago I gave birth to a child, and it’s freezing cold here. We want to return to our homes and lands; we cannot fast under these conditions."

Displaced woman Khaji Qaso also spoke about their suffering in the schools, saying: "Living in schools is impossible; we face many hardships here. We are a resilient people and want to return to our village. We cannot fast in schools because we face so many difficulties."

She called on the Interim Government to remove the factions from their village so that they can return to their homes.
