Democratic Islam Conference: Freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan is the key to resolving Kurdish issue

On Thursday, the Shura Council of the Democratic Islam Conference in North and East Syria issued a statement to public opinion in which it announced its joining the global campaign demanding the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, which was launched under the slogan “Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, the political solution to the Kurdish issue,” in 74 centers on October 10.

The Council's statement referred to the Turkish occupation's attacks on the North and East Syria, which has never initiated attacks that would cause danger to Turkey, and has always adhered to the principle of the right to self-defense and legitimate defense in accordance with all customs and religions. However, the Turkish state considered our regions a source of danger, using flimsy pretexts with the aim of attacking the existing model of AANES, which is based on the principle of brotherhood of peoples, dialogue of religions, and the culture of tolerance and coexistence. it began launching continuous attacks on these areas and caused the killing of safe civilians and the destruction of service institutions and infrastructure. Which causes fear, prompts immigration, and increases the population’s suffering from the lack of electricity and fuel. Therefore, the Shura Council expressed its position rejecting these attacks, and calls on public opinion and society to put an end to the Turkish aggression, and to call for the language of dialogue and a peaceful solution to the outstanding issues that cause such as these conflicts.

The statement added, "The people are the victims who severely suffered as a result of the conflicts and political agendas of the various international and regional powers. What is happening today in Gaza is not a conflict between the Palestinian people and the Israeli people, nor is it a conflict between Muslims and Jews. Rather, it is a conflict of interests of regional and international powers, the price of which is paid by innocent peoples." The region, and we believe that the solution lies in relying on the “Civilian Document” during the era of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, that coexistence, acceptance of others, and adherence to peace are the foundations that must be adopted in such circumstances. Therefore, we reject all forms of attacks that cause the killing of innocent civilians in this war in Gaza Strip.

The statement stressed, "The freedom of thinker Abdullah Ocalan, who spent 25 years in prison, will be the key to resolving the Kurdish issue through dialogue and peaceful means and ending conflicts in the region. Based on this principle, we will join the Popular Initiative for North and East Syria, which was launched on the tenth of last October under The slogan (Freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan and a political solution to the Kurdish issue), with the aim of supporting global societal efforts seeking to resolve conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means and provide a safe and decent life for the peoples of the region.”
