Democratic Islam calls for confronting aggression, supporting resistance

From the frontlines with the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries in the village of Al-Aghibish, located in the western countryside of Tal Tamr in the Jazera Canton, the Democratic Islam Conference issued a statement condemning the ongoing attacks on the North and East Syria region, affirming its support for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in resisting the aggression.

The statement followed the arrival of hundreds of delegations from various cities and towns in the Jazera Canton, including Hasaka, Tal Brak, Al-Hol, Al-Shaddadi, Tal Hamis, Qamishlo, Al-Darbasiya, Amuda, Tal Tamr, and Zirghan, along with members of civil society organizations and the Autonomous Administration. The gathering reflected the unity and cohesion of the region's communities in the face of occupation.

Widespread condemnation of Turkish occupation crimes

The statement was read by Muhammad Ali, the co-chair of the Democratic Islam Conference in Hasaka. He began by saying: "We at the Democratic Islam Conference are deeply concerned about the painful events occurring in Kobani, Serrin, Ain Issa, and extending to Tal Tamr and Zirghan due to the indiscriminate Turkish shelling targeting peaceful civilians in their homes with heavy artillery and drones."

The statement added: "This oppressive force has previously committed acts of killing and destruction against our peaceful people, resulting in the martyrdom of children, elders, women, and religious leaders. It has also targeted infrastructure, particularly energy sources such as oil fields and gas and electricity stations, in an attempt to deepen the suffering of civilians."

The conference noted that these attacks come at a sensitive time for Syria, as the region's people strive to establish stability and peace. However, the Turkish occupying state continues to violate all international laws and conventions, openly defying UN resolutions that protect civilians and prohibit targeting them during armed conflicts.

Rejecting silence and complicity with the occupation

The statement emphasized that the targeting of North and East Syria by the Turkish occupation during the holy month of Ramadan constitutes a blatant violation of Islamic values, as Islam forbids unjust killing and calls for justice and peace.

The conference also condemned the silence of the Damascus authorities regarding the Turkish occupation’s attacks, considering that remaining silent about injustice is equivalent to participating in it. It called on Damascus to fulfill its responsibilities in defending Syrian sovereignty and protecting its citizens.

Call to resist injustice and defend land and dignity

The conference denounced the brutal attacks targeting all components of the Syrian people and affirmed the determination to continue resisting and defending the land and dignity of the region. It also praised the resilience of the people of North and East Syria, especially the heroic resistance at Tishrin Dam and Qereqozaqê Bridge, where the region's people stand in defense of their homeland and legitimate rights.

The statement called on imams, scholars, and mosque preachers to play their role in confronting injustice and raising their voices from the pulpits to expose the violations of the Turkish occupation. It stated that the occupation knows no peace and adheres to no moral or humanitarian standards, but instead continues to violate the sanctity of the land and sky.

Call for international action to stop the aggression

In conclusion, the conference urged religious centers and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities toward innocent civilians in North and East Syria and to pressure the international community to take a decisive stance to stop the attacks targeting civilians and undermining efforts to achieve stability in the region.
