DEM Party issues statement on meeting with Turkish Justice Minister
The delegation from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), which met with Turkish Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunç, emphasized that "Mr. Ocalan's conditions are the most important issue and that these conditions must be improved."

A delegation from the DEM Party held a meeting with Turkish Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunç.
The delegation included the Deputy Co-Chairs of the DEM Party’s parliamentary group, Gilistan Kiliç Koçyigit and Sezai Temelli, as well as the Deputy Co-Chair of the General Assembly and the Co-Spokesperson of the Human Rights and Law Commission, Ozturk Turkdogan.
After the meeting, which lasted about two hours, a statement was issued.
Gilistan Kiliç Koçyigit, Deputy Chair of the DEM Party’s parliamentary group, stated that they held discussions on the contributions the ministry could make to this process.
She added: “I would like to emphasize that the main focus of our discussion was the working and health conditions of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan, who is imprisoned in Imrali. His call on February 27 opened the door to a new process in Turkey and allowed us to move into a new phase for a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue. In this regard, we told the Minister that Mr. Ocalan cannot contribute to the process under a regime of torture and annihilation. Mr. Ocalan’s conditions are the key issue for progress in the process, and these conditions must be improved without exception. In this regard, we may see some developments in the near future.”
