Deaths in Ukrainian drone attack on outskirts of Moscow

Three people were killed in a drone attack targeting the outskirts of Moscow, while Russian authorities announced that their air defenses had intercepted the attack and that facilities and homes had been damaged.

At least three people were killed on Sunday in a drone attack targeting areas around the Russian capital, Moscow, according to the region's governor, Andrei Vorobyov.

Vorobyov said in a post on Telegram that Russian air defense forces began repelling a large-scale drone attack targeting the capital region in the early hours of the morning.

He explained that a woman was killed in the town of Khimki, northwest of Moscow, while two men were killed in a village in the Mytishchi district, northeast of the city. He also noted that homes, buildings, and infrastructure were damaged in several areas.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently announced that Russia had launched one of its most intense air attacks since the start of the war, using hundreds of drones against Ukrainian cities.

Negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv have been stalled amid disagreements over control of eastern Ukraine, particularly the Donetsk region.
