Israeli warplanes launched two airstrikes today targeting a building in the Bashoura area of Beirut, the Lebanese capital. The building was completely destroyed, and thick smoke billowed from the site.

Lebanese media reported that the first strike was a warning, followed by a second, more intense strike that caused extensive damage to the targeted building.

Earlier this morning, the Israeli army issued a warning to evacuate the building before carrying out the attack. The same location had been targeted in a previous airstrike on March 12, but was not destroyed at that time.

In a related development, Israeli aircraft launched a series of other airstrikes on three separate areas in Beirut, marking a significant escalation in recent hours.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the airstrikes on the capital resulted, according to an initial count, in the deaths of six people and injuries to 24 others.

The ministry added that remains were recovered from the targeted site, and that the victims' identities would be determined after DNA testing.
