Local associations and organizations, under the direction of Hasaka Governor Nour Al-Din Ahmed and with the support of the Organizations Office of the Autonomous Administration in Jazera, began distributing relief aid to families affected by the flooding of the Khabur River, following the heavy rains that struck the region earlier this week.

This initiative came after the governor conducted field visits to the affected neighborhoods and along the riverbanks, where he oversaw the evacuation of homes located within the river's boundaries and monitored the situation of affected families. He also directed relevant authorities to take immediate measures to prevent the water from spreading further into residential areas.

According to ANHA correspondents, the governor encouraged local and humanitarian organizations to contribute to the emergency response. These organizations, in coordination with municipalities and internal security forces, began providing support to affected families under direct field supervision.

The aid provided included essential household items such as mattresses, blankets, carpets, pillows, cleaning supplies, and detergents, as part of a rapid response to address the most urgent needs of those affected.

The floods damaged approximately 200 homes in the city of Hasaka and its surrounding countryside, particularly in the Al-Muridian and Ghwairan neighborhoods, as well as villages in the towns of Zirghan and Tal Tamer, due to the unprecedented rise in water levels of the Khabur and Zirghan rivers.

Meanwhile, the municipalities of Hasaka and Tal Tamer, in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces and emergency teams, continued their efforts to clear bridge culverts, remove obstacles, and raise earthen embankments, in addition to evacuating families from at-risk areas.

The rising water levels also rendered the M4 international highway impassable west of Tal Tamer, after it was submerged, disrupting traffic on one of the region's most vital roads.
