The first plane took off from Damascus International Airport, after an actual stop that lasted 65 days, since the date of the first Israeli targeting on October 22nd. On Wednesday, Airlines announced the reopening of Damascus International Airport without an official permit from the Syrian Ministry of Transport.

According to the sources, the plane belonging to Sham Wings took off for Moscow at 11:15 pm Damascus time.

On November 26, Israeli warplanes launched a raid targeting Damascus International Airport, a day after announcing its return to work. Israeli targeted the airport’s landing strips, which led to it being out of service for the second time.

The Syrian Ministry of Transport announced the day before the targeting that work would resume at the airport. On October 22, Israeli jets launched raids on the airport, affecting the landing strips, and led to the killing of two airport workers. That is why flights were diverted to Latakia Airport.

It is worth noting that whenever the authorities in the Damascus government announce the return of the airport to service, Israel targets it and puts it out of service.
