In a statement published on the administration's website, Dr. Mohammad Shawqi Mohammad, co-chair of the Economic and Agricultural Body in the DAANES, said that this step is "very important," despite the legal challenges that surround such a decision within the institutions of the US administration.

Mohammed explained that the lifting of sanctions would contribute to establishing a kind of economic stability in the country and open the door to the flow of capital, pointing to the possibility of active participation by Gulf countries, especially Saudi Arabia, in reconstruction projects.

"Today more than ever, the Syrian transitional government is called upon to capitalize on this historic opportunity to achieve security and stability, and to engage all components of the Syrian people in the process of rebuilding a free and democratic Syria, with a focus on raising the level of public services and rehabilitating the infrastructure destroyed by the war," he concluded.
