DAA documents the Kobani massacre; intends to submit it to UN -human rights committees

In a new tragedy, the Turkish occupation state committed a horrific massacre in the city of Kobani on March 17, claiming the lives of a family consisting of a father, mother, and nine children.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria condemned this crime in a statement issued on March 17, holding the Turkish occupation fully responsible. It described the crime as a "flagrant violation of international law and a war crime." It also called for the formation of an independent committee of lawyers and judges to investigate the circumstances of the massacre, ensure accountability for those responsible, and document the crimes of the Turkish occupation against civilians in North and East Syria.

In a special statement, the co-chair, Hamdan al-Abd, described the crime as "one of the war crimes committed by Turkey against the people of northeastern Syria." He emphasized that this crime is merely a continuation of the Turkish state's hostile policies and its rejection of peace and security.

Al-Abd indicated that the Autonomous Administration has already begun taking official steps following the crime, including forming an investigation committee to collect evidence and hear testimonies from local residents. These efforts aim to document the violations and submit them to the United Nations and human rights committees.

Al-Abd called on the international community to intervene immediately to protect civilians, urging international human rights organizations, especially the United Nations, to pressure the occupying Turkish state to halt its repeated crimes. He pointed out that the international community's silence encourages Turkey to continue committing further crimes.
