Crop payments distributed to only 65 farmers in Qamishlo

The director of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank in Qamishlo, Abdul Manaf al-Abbas, said that the Qamishlo branch had received 65 million Syrian pounds in the new currency, which was distributed to beneficiary farmers at a rate of 1 million Syrian pounds per farmer. A current account was also opened for each farmer to facilitate the payment of the remaining dues in the coming period.

Abdul Manaf al-Abbas told ANHA agency that the invoices covered by the current payment date back to June 10, 11 and 12, noting that the distribution began yesterday, August 16, in accordance with the approved instructions.

Al-Abbas explained that the bank’s branches are divided into groups, including one comprising branches affiliated with Hasakah and another affiliated with the Qamishlo branch. The latter includes the branches in Tel Hamis, Derik and Tel Koçer.

He said that the amounts allocated to the branches were as follows: 65 million Syrian pounds for the Tel Hamis branch, 60 million for the Derik branch and 60 million for the Tel Koçer branch.

It remains unclear when the payment of farmers’ remaining dues will resume, amid a shortage of the new currency and insufficient amounts being sent to cover the invoices of all farmers who delivered their wheat to grain collection centers in the region.
