Conclusion of relief campaign to support Kurds in Rojava

The Governor of Hewler, Omid Khoshnaw, announced on Saturday the conclusion of a large-scale relief campaign that was launched ten days ago in the governorate in Southern Kurdistan to collect humanitarian aid in support of Kurds in Rojava, Syria. The campaign resulted in the collection of hundreds of tons of food and medical supplies, as well as financial donations exceeding one billion Iraqi dinars.

Speaking at a press conference, Khoshnaw said: “We launched a donation campaign in Hewler starting last Thursday in coordination with several entities and institutions, and it continued for 10 days.” He expressed his gratitude to all participants and organizations that contributed to the success of the initiative.

He explained that the original plan was for the campaign to last only five days, but due to the significant turnout from donors and the high level of coordination with the Barzani Charity Foundation, it was decided to extend the campaign, which officially concluded this evening.

Khoshnaw noted that the total in-kind assistance amounted to 505 tons of various materials, transported by 126 trucks, including 325 tons of food supplies and 32 tons of medicines and medical equipment.

Regarding cash donations, he added that the total amount collected reached approximately 1.7 billion Iraqi dinars.
