Communication lost with four young men from Sweida on Damascus Road

The missing individuals are: Saad Mashari al-Shoufi, Shadi Qablan al-Shoufi, and Murad Nayel al-Shoufi, all from the village of Sama al-Bardan in Sweida’s countryside, in addition to the driver, Fadi Khair, from the town of Malah. 

According to sources, their intended destination was Lebanon. Communication with them was abruptly severed in the vicinity of the Damascus–Sweida road, with their phones simultaneously going offline — a development that has deepened the anxiety of their families, who have received no information regarding their fate.

The incident occurred only a week after the Interim Government announced the reopening of this vital road, which had remained closed for nearly six weeks following the mid-July incursion into Sweida.

Nevertheless, civilian traffic along the route remains extremely limited, generally restricted to urgent travel such as for medical purposes, amid persistent fears of recurrent kidnappings and targeted attacks against local residents using what has been termed “humanitarian corridors.”
