Co-presidency praised as model to follow, implement across Syria 

The Co-Presidency Conference was held yesterday, Monday, in the city of Qamishlo in the Jazira Canton of North and East Syria, with the participation of around 300 delegates from the institutions of the Autonomous Administration and civil society centers, in addition to prominent political and military figures.

In exclusive remarks to ANHA agency on the sidelines of the conference, Khalil Tahlo, the co-president of the Mesopotamia Movement for Democratic Culture and Art in Qamishlo, noted that all their institutions operate under the co-presidency system, which has formed the foundation of society since the revolution. He stated that their approach is based on the philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

He explained that both women and men together represent society and that it is everyone's responsibility to promote this system widely so that society is governed on a participatory basis, free from the dominance of any single party.

Tahlo stressed “the importance of continuing to implement the co-presidency system according to the thought and philosophy of Leader Ocalan,” adding that this stage will serve as a model to be followed worldwide.

He called on “everyone to organize themselves on the basis of this system to build a communal life founded on partnership.”

He confirmed that “the co-presidency system has contributed effectively to the development of institutional work and the reinforcement of a participatory mindset between men and women in society,” describing the model as one that should be emulated globally and implemented across all regions of Syria.

For her part, Delal Shibli, co-president of the Movement for a Democratic Society office in Tal Koçer, stated that the co-presidency system has proven its success and effectiveness, noting that many countries have begun to support this model.

She affirmed that “this system represents a major step forward in the Autonomous Administration and is derived from the thought and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who granted women their rights in all fields, military and political, and laid the foundation for their participation in the co-presidency system.”

Delal Shibli added that in the past, Arab women were not able to work side by side with men in institutions. However, today they have broken free from patriarchal and authoritarian thinking and have proven their presence and success in various fields.
