The co-presidency system is steadily making its way in Deir ez-Zor Canton, achieving tangible achievements in consolidating the role of women within administrative and institutional structures.

Rahma al-Ali, a member of the Executive Council of Deir ez-Zor Canton, emphasized that "implementing the co-presidency system faced many difficulties due to outdated customs and traditions, and the refusal of some administrators to allow women to participate in decision-making."

She added, "Women's participation in the co-presidency system, given the security conditions and extremist ideology left behind by ISIS in some areas, is a major achievement."

For her part, Shorouq Al-Battah, co-chair of the Education Authority in Deir ez-Zor Canton, said, "Women in northeastern Syria have overcome many stages of marginalization and gender intolerance, and have gained an active presence in institutions and councils, thanks to the thought of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who established the principle of equality between men and women."

Mayada Al-Omar, a member of the Archives Office of the Interior Authority in Deir ez-Zor Canton, noted that "the co-presidency system has helped women liberate themselves from societal restrictions that deprived them of their most basic rights, such as work and community participation."

She added, "Women have proven their ability to develop through their participation in seminars and awareness sessions, challenging the patriarchal mentality that has long dominated the region."

Women in northeastern Syria are proving their ability to play a pivotal role in various fields, despite ongoing challenges, amid hopes for a future built on partnership and equality.
