Citizen describes his feelings after being freed from Turkish prisons

Revolutionary Djawar Ismail, a native of Sanjaq Saadoun village near Amuda in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), returned to his home following his release from Turkish prisons. He was greeted with a warm reception by dozens of local residents, commune leaders, and representatives of various civil institutions.

Speaking exclusively to ANHA agency in his first public statement after his release, Djawar Ismail shared profound emotions, stating, "I now find myself immersed in the revolution, gripped by an emotional storm akin to a boiling volcano. What I witness in my homeland today represents but a single drop in the enduring journey of freedom."

Ismail elaborated on the significance of the ongoing developments in the region, emphasizing that the July 19 Revolution is the culmination of the Kurdish liberation movement's relentless struggle. He remarked, "The emergence of numerous revolutions can be attributed to the pioneering efforts of the freedom movement, with the Rojava Revolution standing as a novel chapter in this broader liberation narrative."

He further praised the revolution as a beacon of liberty for all peoples and women, offering his congratulations to the diverse populations of Kurdistan, the Middle East, and beyond. "This revolution is not merely for Kurds but for every oppressed community striving for justice and equality," he declared.

Addressing what he described as the "crimes of the Turkish state," Ismail did not mince words: "The adversary possesses an inherently vile nature, unveiling its malevolence in ever-changing forms.

He remained resolute, however, emphasizing that "this barbarity will be eradicated through the unwavering struggle of the peoples and, most notably, through the leadership and determination of women. The ideas and philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan will serve as the bedrock for this victory."

Djawar Ismail concluded with a bold and hopeful proclamation: "The freedom caravan moves forward, and no power on earth can halt its progress."

Who is Djawar Ismail?

Djawar Nasri Ismail (also known as Ridwan Ismail) was arrested by Turkish authorities on September 17, 1991, for his activities within the Kurdish liberation movement. He was sentenced to life imprisonment under Turkish law, which stipulates the release of life-sentenced detainees after serving 30 years. While his official release date was September 5, 2021, the prison administration delayed his release by three years under various pretexts.
