Cities of Jazira Canton celebrate 47th anniversary of PKK’s Founding

Hasakah

Residents of Hasakah, alongside representatives of civil and military institutions, took part in a large public celebration marking the 47th anniversary of the Day of National Resistance (founding of the PKK).

After a minute of silence honoring the martyrs, Clara Reqa, an administrator in the Hasakah City Council, stated that Abdullah Ocalan launched a revolution against attempts to eradicate the Kurdish cause, and that this revolution has today become a struggle joined by millions around the world.

The event concluded with artistic performances and revolutionary songs, strong audience interaction, and chants saluting the PKK’s resistance and supporting leader Ocalan’s call for peace and democratic society.

Tel Tamr and Zirghan

The cities of Tel Tamr and Zirghan also witnessed a large popular celebration organized by residents in the Newroz Square in central Tel Tamr.

After a minute of silence for the martyrs, the co-chair of the Families of Martyrs Council in Tel Tamr, Jenar Youssef, said that the anniversary of the PKK’s founding is a renewal of loyalty to the sacrifices made for the peoples. He added that the philosophy of the democratic nation has become a firmly rooted project in the region.

Mohammed al-Salem, an official in the Community Protection Forces in Tel Tamr, said that the PKK’s founding represented a turning point in the history of the peoples.

The celebration continued with folkloric songs and traditional dance circles.

Darbasiyah

Residents of Darbasiyah and its towns celebrated the Day of National Resistance (PKK founding anniversary) in Zivin Park.

After a minute of silence for the martyrs, Abdel Ghani Oso, an official in the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Jazira Canton, said that the PKK has struggled for the Kurdish people, and that leader Abdullah Ocalan’s initiative is a call for peace for the entire Middle East.

The celebration ended with revolutionary songs and traditional dance circles.

Gerke Lakê

Hundreds of residents from Gerke Lekê, Rmelan, and nearby villages celebrated in the Rojhilat Hall in Gerke Lekê,, with broad public participation.

The event, which began with a minute of silence for the martyrs, affirmed continued loyalty to the decades-long struggle and to the values rooted by leader Abdullah Ocalan in the project of freedom and democracy, stressing that the achievements made would not have been possible without the sacrifices of the martyrs.

Participants formed traditional dance circles accompanied by folkloric and revolutionary songs, with strong audience engagement.

Dêrik

In the city of Dêrik, the Democratic Union Party organized a celebration in coordination with the Dijla Center for Culture and Art. After a minute of silence for the martyrs, Um Rashid, speaking on behalf of the Families of Martyrs Council, praised the PKK’s struggle for the cause of the peoples.

Mohammed Abdul Rahim, the co-chair of the PYD in Jazira Canton, emphasized the principles of peace, dignity, and human freedom in leader Ocalan’s thought.

The celebration ended with popular dances and traditional circles, reflecting a spirit of commitment to the struggle’s legacy and renewing the pledge to continue on the party’s path.
