Celebrations of New Year 2026 in North and East Syria

New Year 2026 celebrations began across all cities and towns of the region’s cantons amid festive atmospheres adorned with fireworks, family gatherings, and visits among relatives and friends. Restaurants, cafés, and coffee shops also saw a noticeable turnout on this occasion, reflecting the globally recognized traditions of New Year celebrations.

The NE Syria witnessed a heavy security presence, alongside traffic police deployed to regulate movement and facilitate citizens’ mobility amid the dense traffic during the hours of celebration.

At the same time, the festive atmosphere coincided with snowfall that has been affecting the region since the morning hours, prompting municipalities and service teams to go on alert to open main and secondary roads and ensure smooth movement between cities and towns.

Fireworks illuminated the skies of the the cities and towns, forming dazzling light displays monitored by our agency, through which residents expressed their hope for a new year bringing greater stability and peace.
