"call of the Leader is historic opportunity"

The families of martyrs in Amuda city of al-Jazira canton demanded physical freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan to lead the current period. Following the demand made on February 27,

Muhammad Saeed Farso said: "The appeal made by Leader Abdullah Ocalan was not only to the Kurds, but all people. It was a blessed step towards peace and living together, and it won vast acceptance and echo among peoples in all parts of the world, as it is an appeal for democracy and peace."

He stated, "The Turkish occupation state, although the PKK announced at its 12th congress to bring an end to the armed struggle, continues to maintain its former policy of genocide and exclusion towards the Kurdish people. Up until now, Turkey has not taken any specific move towards peace."

He stressed, "Physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan is obligatory because he believes in peace and still strives for the realization of a free, democratic state."

Zakia Darwish is certain that peace cannot be one-sided and that Leader Abdullah Ocalan has started a clear peace project. She asserted, "Leader Abdullah Ocalan's invitation is an historic opportunity, and the Turkish state should have a positive approach to this invitation."

Saliha Mustafa stated that "Leader Abdullah Ocalan took great and positive steps towards peace, at a time when the occupying Turkish state refuses any positive peace initiative."

She highlighted that "one side tries to gain peace and settle the matter, while the other side follows a path of silence and denial." She stressed that "if indeed there is a sincere quest for peace, the occupying Turkish state will be obliged to make concrete steps, among which is gaining the physical liberty of Leader Abdullah Ocalan."
