By May 1, SDC calls on workers to play their role in Syrian unity and construction

The Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement to public opinion, in which it congratulated every worker, male and female, and all toiling people in Syria and the world, on the occasion of International Workers’ Day.

The statement indicated that this holiday is a long-standing tradition of celebrating the working class, and carries great symbolism for the labor movement and its historical struggle for rights, dignity, and social justice. Workers are the engine of progress and construction, and without them, sustainable development cannot be achieved.

In its statement, the Syrian Democratic Council sent a message to Syrian workers, calling on them to play their pioneering role in the unity of Syrians and the battle to rebuild, develop and restore what was destroyed by the war, stressing: “They are heroes who work tirelessly despite all the challenges and suffering. We derive strength from their solid will and firm determination.” In resuming work and production under the most difficult circumstances.”

The statement added: "We, in the Syrian Democratic Council, recognize the importance of workers and their pivotal role in rebuilding Syria and achieving peace and prosperity. Therefore, we are committed to defending the rights of workers, protecting them and providing favorable conditions for them to work and produce with dignity. We also affirm our full support for the struggles of the labor movement for its just demands."

At its conclusion, the statement appealed for the concerted efforts of the peoples, noting: “The future Syria that we all seek will not be achieved except with the concerted efforts of our people and their insistence on building a just system that guarantees dignity for all and achieves social justice under a pluralistic, decentralized democratic system.”
