British delegation pays support visit to NE Syria

The delegation, consisting of 12

individuals including members of the European and British parliaments, members of civil society organizations, and figures from the Kurdish community there, arrived in the region yesterday.

The delegation was welcomed at the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration in Qamishlo by the department’s co-chairs, Ilham Ahmed and Fanar al-Kait, along with their deputies, Gulistan Ali and Rubel Bahou.

Ilham Ahmed, co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, welcomed the delegation and informed them of the importance of their arrival at a time when the region is going through a difficult situation. She stressed the continuation of efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria.

The delegation’s visit aims to learn about the democratic system and how it is implemented, as well as to present economic and climate change-related projects. It also aims to strengthen relations and provide political and economic support, in addition to conveying the challenges and difficulties facing the Autonomous Administration to the foreign ministries of EU countries in search of assistance.

Over the course of two days, the delegation is scheduled to visit political parties, institutions, and human rights activists.
