Bloody clashes; curfew in Rastan in rural Homs

Armed clashes took place inside the city of Rastan in the northern countryside of Homs, amid a state of popular discontent in the city, as a result of the security services affiliated with the Damascus government not taking any action to end the clash, which has so far resulted in the death of two people and the injury of a number of city residents, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Following the armed clashes that took place between the “Rapid Intervention Regiment” group of the Iranian-run 47th Brigade, south of Hama Governorate, with armed men from the city of Rastan, the matter led to the imposition of a curfew within the city’s neighborhoods, according to SOHR.

According to the sources of the SOHR, the people of the city have a real fear of moving between the city’s neighborhoods, at risk of being targeted by the warring parties, in light of the absence of the security presence of members of the security detachments and military checkpoints inside the city and on its outskirts, which are supposed to work to end the ongoing phenomenon of fighting within the city.

It should be noted that the clashes resulted in the death of two city residents and the injury of others who were transferred to the Specialized Hospital in Talbiseh, at a time when the efforts of the city’s residents failed to mediate an end to the state of fighting, which was sparked by an attempt to storm the house of Khaled Abdel Bari, son of the commander of the Rapid Intervention Regiment, Khairallah.
