The number of new Syrian refugees in Akkar Governorate, Lebanon, has risen to 7,616 people who managed to cross the Al-Kabir River in light of the tragic events affecting cities and rural areas of the Syrian coast.

The Disaster and Crisis Management Room in Akkar issued a report indicating that "villages and towns in the Akkar Plain and several villages in the Dreib area are witnessing a noticeable increase in the number of arrivals from Syria. This poses multiple challenges, particularly in securing shelter, food, and basic health services, given the limited capacities of municipalities and host communities."

The room noted that it continues to coordinate efforts among various local and international actors to ensure an organized and effective response, focusing on assessing needs, distributing aid, and enhancing social stability.

It confirmed the ongoing work to strengthen monitoring and rapid intervention mechanisms to keep pace with field developments and mitigate the humanitarian and social impacts of the crisis.

The report stated that the number of refugee families in Akkar has now reached 1,777 families, totaling 7,616 people, who have settled across 15 towns and villages in Akkar.
