The Training Committee of the People's Municipality in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo organized a lecture on violence against women and ways to combat it.

This lecture is part of a series of events held annually by women's organizations and movements in the North and East Syria Region and Aleppo, coinciding with the approach of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25th each year.

The lecture was held in one of the halls of the People's Municipality building and was delivered by Fikret Mostafa, the administrator of the Training Committee.

Mostafa explained the concept of violence, pointing out that it is not merely an act committed or a passing incident, but rather a profound state of alienation affecting all of humanity; an alienation from the self when a woman loses her connection to her essence.

She clarified that violence against women is not a recent phenomenon, but rather an extension of the patriarchal and authoritarian mentality, stating, "The original partnership between human beings has been transformed into ownership and control, and women have become the primary victims of this separation from fundamental human values."

Fikret confirmed the necessity of liberating consciousness as a first step and a fundamental entry point for any change in the structure of society, stating, "Resisting violence is not merely a physical confrontation, but rather an intellectual and spiritual resistance that requires philosophical programs, reading history from a perspective of partnership, and dismantling the languages of domination in everyday discourse."

The Training Committee will continue to hold similar lectures tomorrow and in the coming days, aiming to highlight the effects of violence on women and society and the necessity of building a violence-free life based on equality and justice.
