Autonomous Administration representatives participate in international seminar on women’s rights and protection 

Representatives from the Autonomous Administration of Rojava participated in an international seminar in Tunis, Tunisia, titled "Seventy Years of the Personal Status Code: Where Do We Stand on Equality?" The event was attended by representatives from feminist, human rights, and trade union organizations and institutions, alongside various academic figures.

The discussion focused on "The Social Contract for Women: Theory vs. Practice—The Family Law Model of the Autonomous Administration (Rojava)." Participants highlighted the Autonomous Administration's experience with legislation concerning women and the family, examining how the principles enshrined in its Social Contract translate into reality and practical application.

The seminar aimed to evaluate the achievements and limitations of the Personal Status Code regarding equality and women's rights within the family. It also sought to showcase comparative experiences from feminist movements and explore ways to advance legislation related to women's rights within the family unit.

Furthermore, participants discussed the potential for developing joint strategies and action plans to improve legislation and policies that guarantee women's rights and equality within the family, amidst ongoing debates about refining the legal frameworks governing family relations and women's rights.

This seminar was held to mark the 70th anniversary of the enactment of Tunisia's Personal Status Code. The occasion served as a forum for international dialogue on the trajectory of legislation concerning women and the extent to which it has achieved equality, featuring the participation of feminist and human rights organizations, as well as figures from academic and civil society backgrounds.
