As-Suwayda signs agreement of understanding with Damascus

Figures from As-Suwayda signed an agreement of understanding, with the blessing of the spiritual leader of the Druze Muslims, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hajri. The agreement includes several key points, most notably "activating the judicial authority, paying salaries, and integrating local armed factions into the Ministry of Defense."

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the spiritual leadership of the Druze community in Qanawat, As-Suwayda, and was attended by the Governor of As-Suwayda, Mustafa al-Bakkour, who represents the Damascus Authority. Several members representing As-Suwayda during the "National Dialogue" conference also participated.

According to the meeting's report, "The current situation in As-Suwayda was discussed, and a memorandum of understanding was signed by the attendees." It includes the state's commitment to implement the following points, in cooperation with the people of As-Suwayda, as follows:

-Immediately activate the judicial authority.

-Activate the police and security file under the Ministry of Interior.

-Organize defected officers and individuals, and integrate all armed factions into the Ministry of Defense.

-Pay all overdue salaries for employees immediately.

-Review all employees dismissed before 12/8.

-Prioritize the employment of those who were unjustly dismissed before 12/8.

-Financially and administratively reform state institutions.

-Expedite the appointment of members of the temporary executive office to address the needs of employees.

-Maintain civil peace and prevent violations of public and private property.

-Remove violations of state property and roads within a planned approach and find alternatives.

-Use the former party building as the main headquarters for the university.

-Consider the signatories of these points as a follow-up committee for their implementation, and instruct everyone to continue consultations and find solutions for any new issues or events not covered above.
