Arrest warrant issued for media activist in Idlib after his participation in “Dignity Sit-in”

The Syrian Interim Government issued an arrest warrant for a media activist from Idlib who participated in the “Law and Dignity” sit-in, which was held in Yusuf al-Azma Square in Damascus.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that security forces affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government in Idlib issued a warrant for the arrest of media activist Mazen Arja, following his participation in the “Law and Dignity” sit-in in Yusuf al-Azma Square in Damascus on April 17.

SOHR noted that Arja, a prominent media activist since 2011, was known for his criticism of the abuses committed by some factions. He participated in the sit-in, which raised approximately 20 demands, primarily focused on improving living conditions, strengthening the rule of law, ending the security grip, and ensuring a dignified life for citizens.

These practices are part of a broader campaign to silence dissent and target activists participating in protests, particularly following media campaigns prior to the sit-in that accused the organizers of having ties to "foreign agendas" and belonging to "remnants of the former regime."
