arrest of 7 ISIS mercenaries east of Deir ez-Zor

The Media Center of the Internal Security Forces published today that its forces arrested 7 ISIS mercenaries east of Deir ez-Zor. 

 The center said: "Our forces, in cooperation with the General Security Agency and the International Coalition, managed to arrest seven members of the terrorist organization's cells east of Deir ez-Zor, in a successful security operation carried out at dawn on Thursday, January 2."

 The operation came, according to the center, "as part of the ongoing efforts to pursue remnants of terrorism and cleanse the region of security threats. Our forces succeeded in identifying the locations of the cell members, who had come from the Ras al-Ain area to the city of al-Bukamal, and then to the eastern Euphrates regions, where they were involved in distributing weapons to the rest of the cell members."

 The Internal Security Forces indicated that during the operation, quantities of weapons and documents in their possession were seized, and they were referred for preliminary investigations to complete the necessary legal procedures before being presented to the judiciary.

 And it affirmed "our forces' commitment to continuing security efforts to confront all terrorist threats and ensure the safety and security of citizens in the region."

 It is noted that the regions of North and East Syria have become a safe haven despite the chaos prevailing in other parts of Syria, which are witnessing widespread arms proliferation and repeated attempts to undermine security and stability.
