ANHA agency met with two injured civilians, a woman and a young man, who sustained varying degrees of injury when mortar shells fired from the town of Walgha, controlled by the Syrian Transitional Government factions, targeting the outskirts of Sweida city on January 3.

The wounded revealed details of the shelling, which injured several civilians while they were in markets and at their workplaces, while clashes continue to threaten the safety of local residents and their property.

ANHA correspondent confirmed that the shelling injured a woman and a young man, as the two injured explained to ANHA agency that they were shopping and working in the market when the shells were fired. They only realized the woman was injured when she arrived at the hospital, as a piece of shrapnel had penetrated her ear and lodged in her cerebellum, and she is still receiving treatment there.

The injured young man explained to ANHA agency that he was working at a shop in Tel Hadid area, the transport checkpoint, loading and unloading goods, when he sustained severe injuries to his legs and shrapnel wounds to his back, which currently prevent him from moving them. He is still receiving treatment at the hospital.

These incidents are part of the continued targeting of civilian areas around Sweida with mortar shells, which exacerbates the suffering of local residents, and threatens their lives and property.
