In light of the rapidly evolving political and social developments in Syria, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement to the public opinion on Monday, and it included,

"Given the transformations taking place in Syria, and the accompanying diverse discussions and movements, the Autonomous Administration emphasizes the importance of a responsible approach towards this phase, preserving civil peace, safeguarding public rights, and preventing the resurgence of polarization or the political exploitation of any group.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria affirms its unwavering commitment to the right of all Syrians, regardless of their ethnic, religious, or political affiliation, to peacefully express their opinions, demonstrate, and participate in political life, as these are legitimate rights that must not be criminalized or infringed upon.

The Autonomous Administration stresses that the demand for participation in managing public affairs is a fundamental national right, and that addressing these demands must be based on responsible political understanding, avoiding collective characterizations or speeches that deepens division and fuels hatred.

Rights are not granted through guardianship, communities are not defined by names, and justice is not built on collective accusations."

In this context, the Autonomous Administration believes that the Alawite community is an integral part of Syrian society, has borne the brunt of the policies of an authoritarian regime that exploited and abused the community for decades, and that addressing this legacy cannot be achieved by reproducing old divisions or assigning responsibilities to communities that do not reflect their reality.

The Autonomous Administration also warns against attempts by figures associated with the former regime or its repressive legacy to reposition themselves by exploiting fears, manipulating public opinion on behalf of certain groups, and exploiting peaceful demonstrations for legitimate demands. It emphasizes that this approach does not serve the demands of the Syrian people and is incompatible with the requirements of the current stage. The Administration believes that overcoming this legacy is a fundamental condition for the transition to a just and stable Syria.

The Autonomous Administration reiterates its firm position on the necessity of individual accountability and comprehensive transitional justice, as these are the true paths to fairness and national reconciliation, far away from generalization.

The Autonomous Administration affirms that its political approach stems from a vision of building a state based on democracy, free citizenship, accountability, the rule of law, respect for diversity, rejection of incitement and hate speech, and joint action for a democratic, pluralistic state that guarantees freedom and dignity for all Syrians.
