ANHA agency documents damage in Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyeh by transitional govt shelling

Yesterday, the transitional government forces shelled the al-Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo with mortar rounds, coinciding with continued attempts to storm the neighborhoods with tanks and armored vehicles from multiple directions, after opening live fire and throwing tear gas grenades at residents protesting the installation of earthen barriers to block the neighborhoods’ entrances and exits.

According to documentation by ANHA agency, the shelling directly hit civilians’ homes and property, resulting in 60 injuries. The injured were transferred to the Martyr Khaled Fajr Hospital for treatment.

This morning, ANHA agency’s camera toured the neighborhoods and recorded several buildings, houses, and vehicles damaged by the falling shells and indiscriminate gunfire by the transitional government forces in Syria.

It is worth noting that the Internal Security Forces intervened to respond to the sources of fire in order to protect civilians from the attacks, leading to sporadic clashes involving light and medium weapons.

Since late last night, a cautious calm has prevailed in the area.
