Amina Ali: From media work to resistance ranks

HPG announced the records of five fighters, including a female fighter from Raqqa city, who were martyred on different dates in 2020 within the Media Defense Zones. The martyrs are called Sara Delsoz, Serkhbon Demhat, Heimn Ormiye, Roni Ghazal, and Serhad Qalqali.

In a statement released on Thursday, HPG said, "Our dear comrades; Serkhbon, Sara, Heimn, Roni, and Serhad, as distinguished sons and daughters of our Arab, Azerbaijani, and Kurdish peoples, joined the Apoji movement and dedicated their life to the democratic nation concept of the leader Abdullah Ocalan and to the internationalist character of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). They embraced the self-sacrificing struggle for the sake of peoples' freedom, and saw it as a revolutionary duty to fight wherever our peoples are under attack."

Believing in these values, Sara Delsoz (real name; Amina Ali), a former correspondent for ANHa News Agency in 2017, joined HPG ranks in 2019, beginning a new journey in the fields of resistance.

Amina Abdul Qader Ali was born in 1994 in al-Mushlabneighborhood of Raqqa, within a family of eight members, along with her father and mother. She was the third daughter in the family which descended from al-Bu Hamid clan, one of the most prominent Arab clans in the region.

Amina grew up in a simple environment steeped in community values ​​and a patriotic spirit, which contributed to build her strong personality. She attended neighborhood schools until she earned her high school diploma, then continued her university education at al-Furat University, Faculty of Education.

After Raqqa was liberated from ISIS in 2017, Amina joined the media work at ANHA News Agency, where she worked as a reporter and administrator at the Public Media Center in Raqqa.

For more than two years, she became the voice of the people, conveying their suffering and documenting the developments that the city witnessed after its liberation. She was not just a journalist; she witnessed a pivotal phase in Raqqa's history, and contributed to the reestablishment of society after years of oppression and darkness.

In 2019, Amina made the fateful decision to join HPG ranks in Qandil Mountains in the Media Defense Zones. This shift from media work to the ranks of resistance was a reflection of her deep belief in her people's issue and her willingness to sacrifice for a free future.
