Amid regional escalation… Voices from Qamishlo call for strengthening Kurdish unity

Residents of Qamishlo emphasized the importance of Kurdish unity, considering that the present stage and the regional escalation demand a unified stance from Kurdish political forces, parties, and movements.

Citizen Asaad Younes stated, “The Kurdish people are going through a sensitive and decisive phase. To overcome it, efforts must be unified, partisan narrow interests set aside, and work directed toward the broader Kurdish national interest.”

He added, “There are conspiracies being plotted against us, but we will continue our struggle until we secure our rights and protect the gains of the Rojava Revolution. We need the support of the Kurdish people across the four parts of Kurdistan, for one hand alone cannot clap.”

Younes noted that “any party operating outside the framework of Kurdish unity bears responsibility before the people. Parties have no choice but to unite their efforts in service of Kurdish unity.”

For his part, Ahmed Majeed affirmed that each stage has its own priorities, and that the priority of the current phase is achieving Kurdish unity and consolidating political energies in the face of regional escalation.

He pointed out that “the Kurdish people have struggled for many years for their rights and have sacrificed thousands of martyrs. They are a peaceful people who live alongside all components of society. However, if we do not unite, no one will protect us. Unity is more necessary than ever and represents the fundamental guarantee for safeguarding their political and social future.”

He continued, “The Kurdish people fought terrorism and defended the world, yet international interests sometimes outweigh realities. Therefore, our internal unity must be the foundation.” He cited the Kurdish poet Cegerxwîn on the importance of unity in confronting challenges: “If we do not unite, we will fall one by one.”

In his turn, Saif al-Din Hussein indicated that “Kurds in the four parts of Kurdistan and in the diaspora have proven, during the conspiracies plotted against the Kurdish people, that their unity is capable of changing the balance of power. When the people unite, they become a formidable force; attacks cease, and we secure our cultural, educational, and social rights.”

He affirmed that the strength of the Kurdish people lies in their political, military, and popular cohesion, and that overcoming differences represents an essential step toward a unified future that serves their interests.

He concluded by stressing the necessity for Kurdish forces and parties to set aside their differences and work within a unified framework that reflects the will of the Kurdish ranks and enhances civil peace and stability in the region.
