Aleppo women protest in support of Suwayda women

The event took place at Destina Roundabout, located in the eastern part of Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, with the participation of women members and representatives of political parties, civil institutions, councils, and communes.

Protesters held banners that read:

“We demand accountability for the criminals whose hands are stained with the blood of Syrians”

“We support the women of Suwayda and the Syrian coast”

“No to killing, no to violence, no to sectarianism — stop the bloodshed”

“Terrorism has no religion"

The protest began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a speech from Fahima Hemo, the member of the Kongra Star Coordination Body. She emphasized that women’s self-organization within the framework of self-defense is essential to preserving their existence in the face of oppression and violations committed by the ruling patriarchal mentality in the country.

She also pointed out the difference between the former Baath regime and the interim government in Syria, stating: “Both suppress society and impose their authority by force — the former through Arab nationalism, the latter through Islamism.”

Fatima Al-Hasino, the head of the Relations Office at the Syrian Democratic Council, stressed the importance of adopting a self-defense approach and uniting women’s ranks to save women from the cycle of violations imposed by the ruling regimes. She condemned the violence against women in Syrian regions based on sectarian grounds.

The event concluded with the crowd chanting:

"Jin, Jiyan, Azadî"

("Woman, Life, Freedom").
