Afrin-Shahba IDPs relocated from shelters in Raqqa to Jazira Canton

The Social Affairs and Labor Body in Raqqa Canton relocated 50 families of displaced people from Afrin and Shahba from shelters in the canton to the city of Dêrik in Jazera Canton.

To ensure all necessary provisions for the displaced from Afrin and Shahba, the Social Affairs and Labor Body in Raqqa Canton transferred 50 families from shelters in the city of Raqqa, who had been residing in Andalus, Ali bin Abi Talib, and Jinnien schools, to the city of Dêrik in Jazera Canton. Specific accommodations were arranged for them there, and the body provided vehicles to transport them.

Mohammad Khalil, head of the commune at the Andalus School shelter, stated: “The displaced families from Afrin and Shahba were informed in advance that they would be relocated to the city of Dêrik.”

The Social Affairs and Labor Body in Raqqa Canton plans to continue relocating displaced families from Afrin and Shahba in phases, transferring them from shelters in Raqqa and Tabqa to Jazera Canton.

More than 200,000 displaced people from Afrin, who had sought refuge in Shahba, were forced to flee once again to Raqqa, Tabqa, and Jazera after Turkish occupation forces and their mercenaries launched attacks on Shahba and Tal Rifaat.
