The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria strongly condemned the attack carried out by Syrian Interim Government forces on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in Aleppo, which resulted in the death of a woman and the injury of several innocent civilians.

The AANES held the Syrian Interim Government fully responsible for these attacks and their serious consequences, stating that they directly contribute to creating chaos, destabilizing the region, and disrupting the general Syrian atmosphere, at a time when the situation requires the highest levels of wisdom, restraint, and serious efforts toward de-escalation.

The statement added that these attacks serve only Syria’s enemies, who aim to undermine national efforts to unify Syrian discourse and thwart initiatives for a comprehensive political solution that meets the aspirations of all Syrians. The statement emphasized that the choice of the people is resistance.

The statement also noted that this is not the first time attacks have been carried out on Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, representing repeated violations of previous understandings and agreements intended to prevent escalation, stop abuses, and protect civilians.

The Autonomous Administration stressed that these violations and repeated attacks, along with the ongoing siege of the neighborhoods which recall the practices of the former Ba’athist regime indicate the continuation of the same policies against the people. They raise serious questions about the real commitment to resolving outstanding issues and the seriousness in moving toward a comprehensive solution that ensures safety in Syria and fulfills the hopes and aspirations of the Syrian people for building a decentralized, democratic Syria where all Syrians enjoy equal rights and responsibilities.

The statement concluded by affirming that saving Syria is a collective responsibility, calling on all Syrians and national forces to intensify efforts and work together to achieve a comprehensive and fair solution, end decades of oppression, marginalization, and killings, and build a homeland inclusive of all its citizens a free, democratic, decentralized, and secure Syria.
