5th Fine arts symposium kicks off in Tabqa

The Fifth Fine Arts Symposium opened today in the city of Tabqa. The symposium was organized by the Culture Authority of North and East Syria, in cooperation with the Culture Authority of Tabqa Canton, with the participation of a select group of visual artists from across Syria. This symposium comes as part of efforts to promote the values ​​of peace and brotherhood among Syrians and contribute to overcoming the effects of war and divisions.

The ceremony was held at the Culture and Arts Center Hall in Tabqa, with the attendance of the co-chairs of the Executive Council, Avin Sweid and Hussein Othman, the co-chair of the Kurdistan National Congress, Zainab Murad, and representatives of the Executive Council of Tabqa Canton, in addition to members of the Culture Authority of the Autonomous Administration and Tabqa, representatives of political parties, civil society organizations, tribal sheikhs, and a large audience of local residents.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs. Then, the co-chair of the Culture Authority of the Autonomous Administration, Sarfaraz Sharif, delivered a speech in which she emphasized that the forum represents an opportunity to express hope under the sky of a unified Syria. She noted that preparations had taken two months to provide a suitable environment for artistic creativity.

The ceremony included a synopsis, highlighting the region's cultural efforts to revive Syrian heritage after its destruction at the hands of the terrorist organization ISIS. The Ajawid Group theatrical troupe also performed dance performances reflecting Syria's cultural diversity, followed by a traditional singing performance by artist Siban Khalat, who blended the heritage of the region's diverse components.

Another television program was also shown, showcasing the Culture Authority's achievements this year, particularly in preserving historical heritage and promoting cohesion among Syrian society.

After introducing the participating artists, the audience moved to the Shams Cafeteria Hall, where the artists began preparing their works for the closing exhibition.

Thirty-one artists from various Syrian cities are participating in the forum, including Kobani, Qamishlo, Hasakah, Manbij, Raqqa, Damascus, Quneitra, Latakia, and Tabqa.

The forum will last for six days and will conclude with an exhibition of the participants' artworks and sculptures, a move aimed at highlighting the role of art in promoting unity and peace.
