50 mass graves in Syria documented during 2025

According to documentation by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, around fifty mass graves containing the remains of at least 2,865 victims have been discovered in various parts of Syria since the fall of the Ba'ath regime. This discovery provides further evidence of the human rights violations that have plagued the country in recent years.

These graves date back to different periods since the outbreak of the Syrian conflict in 2011, a time when widespread human rights abuses witnessed; mass killings, arbitrary arrests, and enforced disappearances, leading to one of the most complex humanitarian crises in the region.

Recently, dozens of mass graves have been found in several governorates, most notably Daraa, Homs, Hama, and Deir ez-Zor. These graves contain the remains of hundreds of victims who were killed or forcibly disappeared, including women, children, and men.

The significance of these graves is their testament to war crimes and crimes against humanity, and they have reignited the demands of victims' families and human rights organizations for accountability and the disclosure of the fate of thousands of missing persons who remain unaccounted for to this day.
