4 ceasefire violations by interim govt factions amid Turkish shelling

The Ministry of Defense of the Syrian interim government had announced a four-day ceasefire starting at 20:00, after which the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) declared their commitment to the truce, affirming that they would not initiate any military action unless their forces came under attack.

However, the ceasefire was breached four times during its first hours, as Turkish-backed interim government factions launched a series of attacks on various areas in North and East Syria.

Just twenty minutes after the ceasefire came into effect, al-Aqatan Prison in Raqqa, which holds ISIS mercenaries, was targeted at 20:20 by five strikes carried out by drones, resulting in the injury of one fighter, according to the SDF Media Center.

At 21:11, the city of Zarghan in the Jazira Canton was subjected to intense artillery shelling by interim government factions, coinciding with the flight of Turkish drones over the city.

At 21:55, the village of Tal Baroud on the Abyad–Abyad road south of Hasakah also came under a heavy-weapons attack carried out by interim government factions.

Later at night, interim government factions moved in the vicinity of the city of Sarrin, south of Kobani, in an attempt to expand their positions, but they were met with heavy strikes that forced them to retreat.

In parallel with these violations, Turkish forces shelled a security point in the village of al-Awijah in the city of Qamishlo at 00:37, and also targeted the parking area of the Heart and Eye Hospital, according to a statement by the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria.
