37 Syrian political parties and forces declare their solidarity with Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Thirty-seven Syrian political parties, forces, and organizations issued a statement to the public today, condemning the attack on the home of Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani. The statement read:

"We, the undersigned political parties and forces, condemn in the strongest terms the heinous attack on the home of Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, by those who oppose security and stability in the region.

These reprehensible attacks are but another link in the chain of the regional war raging between Israel and the United States on one side, and Iran on the other.

We believe that these wars between regimes, while weakening authoritarian regimes in some respects, simultaneously pose a direct and grave threat to the lives of people and the security of civilians, and jeopardize the stability of the entire region.

Targeting residential areas and civilians, regardless of who is behind it, is a reprehensible act of terrorism that cannot be justified under any political or military pretext.

We categorically reject any attack targeting innocent civilians and consider it a flagrant violation of all human values ​​and international norms. We wish Mr. Nechirvan Barzani and his family, and all the sons and daughters of the Kurdistan Region, safety and well-being."

We also affirm our full solidarity with the people of Iraqi Kurdistan in the face of all threats to their security, stability, and rights.

The people of Syria, who pay the price of regional conflicts every day, are well aware that true peace can only be achieved by ending policies of escalation and foreign interference, and by building fraternal and cooperative relations among all components of the region based on mutual respect and recognition of the legitimate rights of all peoples.
