2 kidnapped brothers' family appeals relevant authorities to intervene

The family of the two brothers, Avan and Abdul Muttalib Miro, from Derik city in Jazira canton, appealed to the relevant authorities to intervene urgently and reveal the fate of their sons, after contact was lost with them while they were heading to Damascus to register at the university.

Contact was lost with brothers Avan (23 years old) and Abdul Mutallib Miro (20 years old) while they were traveling from Derik city in Jazira region towards Damascus to register at the university.

According to the family, the brothers were detained on Sunday at the Maadan checkpoint on the Raqqa-Damascus road, about 70 kilometers away from the city of Raqqa. This checkpoint is controlled by the Turkish-backed al-Amshat mercenaries, within areas controlled by the Syrian Transitional Government.

The brothers' father, Hamdin Abdul Mutallib, told ANHA agency: "Since yesterday morning, contact has been lost with my sons while they were on their way to Damascus to register at the university. The bus driver told me that the Maadan checkpoint stopped the bus, its personnel searched the passengers' phones, and then took Avan and Abdul Mutallib to an unknown location, after accusing them of belonging to the Revolutionary Youth and the Syrian Democratic Forces."

The father added, "We do not know anything about their fate so far. I appeal to all responsible parties to intervene immediately to stop these repeated violations, reveal the fate of my sons, and ensure the protection of students from arbitrary arrest while they are traveling."
