1,800 letters from women to Leader Abdullah Ocalan

On October 1, the Kongra Star in Jazira canton launched a letter-writing to Leader Abdullah Ocalan campaign, and announced in a statement today the results of the campaign, revealing that 1,800 letters had been written.

The statement was read in front of the Kongra Star headquarter in al-Hai al-Gharbi (The Western Neighborhood) of Qamishlo by Rehan Temmo, the spokesperson for the Kongra Star in Qamishlo.

Rehan Temmo noted that the Kongra Star had joined the "I Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan" campaign, and continued, "Qamishlo witnessed a series of events in this context. The Kongra Star organized a series of marches and seminars in fulfillment of the call for 'peace and a democratic society.' The Peace Manifesto was read, and public opinions were monitored. Today, we received letters from women. They are letters from all the women working in women's institutions and bodies in the region. The letters carry great hope that democratic and legal paths will be opened for Leader Abdullah Ocalan during the new phase, so that he can play his role in ridding the region of this crisis and establishing peace. Therefore, we call for a struggle to open legal paths for the leader."

She added, "Our activities and events also come against the international conspiracy that targeted the Leader. We condemn the conspiracy, affirm our demand for the Leader's freedom until the end, and pledge to uphold our responsibility towards the call for peace and a democratic society."

Rehan Temmo called on international institutions to fulfill their duty to achieve Leader Abdullah Ocalan's physical freedom and his right to hope.

The statement concluded with chanting the slogans "No Life Without the Leader" and "Women, Life, Freedom."
