Universities in Hewler protest against PDK policy

Students at the Technical University in Hewler protested against the failure of the South Kurdistan authorities to disburse monthly aid to the students, and the students appealed to the relevant institutions to grant them their aid as soon as possible, according to what Roj news reported.

The protest included about 4,000 students from the Technical University in Hewler, Department of Medicine, Engineering and Business Administration, against the non-payment of monthly aid.

Ahmed Karim, on behalf of the students, made a statement to the press, in which he said: “The failure to distribute monthly aid to students has affected our studies, and the situation of our families is not good enough to support us.”

He continued: “Monthly aid has not been paid to students for four consecutive months, and the students’ situation is very difficult,” adding: “The lack of internal departments and the lack of services in those departments are among the other problems that students face, and therefore we demand that the number of internal departments be increased and that places be provided for students outside the city.” .

Ahmed Karim called on the authorities of Southern Kurdistan, which is dominated by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK), to pay the monthly aid to the students, and concluded his speech by saying: “The only demand of the students is to pay their aid, and if this requirement is not met, we will resort to other methods.”
