Aleppo notables: Isolation is rejected; we will achieve the leader’s physical freedom

By not responding with acceptance or rejection, the Turkish state deals with the requests submitted by the lawyers of the Al-Asr Human Rights Office to meet with their client, Leader Abdullah Ocalan, as no information has been received about him since March 25, 2021.

Members of the Committee of Notables of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods expressed their rejection of what the leader was being subjected to in Imrali prison, and demanded his physical freedom.

Political goals

Member of the Committee of Notables of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, Ali Al-Hassan, noted that the practices committed by the Turkish state against the leader have political goals, and said: “For more than 24 years, it has been practicing incapacitating policies against the leader, with the intention of putting pressure on him to undermine him and his idea.”

Ali Al-Hassan noted: “Isolation is imposed on him in order to prevent intellectual communication between him and the people, and the supporters of his thought and philosophy in North and East Syria and the Middle East in general.”

Isolation is rejected

Al-Hassan called on human rights organizations and the United Nations to take action to break the isolation: “This isolation is categorically rejected, and the relevant authorities must take action to release the leader and grant him his physical freedom, because we will not be satisfied with just lifting the isolation on him.”

Al-Hassan saw the policies implemented against the leader by the Turkish occupation state as a violation of international and humanitarian laws: “The leader is over 70 years old, not to mention his isolation. Messages are being sent to him threatening to end his life, so where is the humanity and conscience? In his isolation, there is a violation of humanitarian values and international laws, the leader is still resisting."

We will convey the idea to our generations because it is necessary for societies

As for committee member Hanan Abdo, she condemned the isolation imposed on the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and added: “We do not accept the situation he is in for our leader,” and appealed to the concerned authorities to stand with the truth and speak the word of truth: “The concerned authorities must not deny the truth and contribute to the leader’s release.”

Hanan Abdo explained: “A great leader, like Leader Abdullah Ocalan, although he was physically separated from us, his ideas are rooted in our minds and we will pass them on to our generations, because they are necessary for societies and the entire world.”

In prison, he also did not stop offering more

While committee member and Sheikh Ahmed al-Quraishi pointed out: “The leader was kidnapped in 1999, and while in prison he also did not stop offering more to his people. He wrote manifestos, and now we are under the banner of brotherhood of peoples, enjoying peace.”

Ahmed al-Quraishi noted: “For more than two years, he has been subjected to strict isolation, through which he is completely prevented from communicating with his lawyer and his family, and no news has been received about him, in addition to disciplinary penalties and the delivery of messages to him with the aim of destroying his psychological state.”

An international leader and we will achieve his physical freedom

Al-Quraishi emphasized that thanks to the leader’s thought and philosophy, peoples rallied around each other, and said: “The leader has illuminated the path for the oppressed peoples. He is an international leader and not just the leader of the Kurdish people. We will achieve their physical freedom because we are the owners of the right and the cause.”
