Today, the Nada Alliance issued a written statement, on the first anniversary of the launch of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” uprising after the killing of the young Kurdish woman, Jina Amini, on September 16, 2022.

The statement stated: “A year has passed since the martyrdom of Jina/Mahsa Amini by the so-called (moral police) in the city of Mahabad in Iran. Her killing sparked a massive popular and mass movement that rose to the level of revolution in Iran and eastern Kurdistan.

During this period of the year, dozens of young men and women died, and hundreds were arrested because of their defense of the philosophy of the slogan by which this revolution was known (Women, Life, Freedom).

On this occasion, the Nada Alliance recalled: “All the martyrs of freedom are embodied in the person of the martyr Jina / Mahsa Amini, as well as Shaler Rasouli, with all reverence and gratitude.”

The Nada Alliance (the Regional Democratic Women's Alliance in the Middle East and North Africa) expressed: “Once again, we stand by the struggle of Iranian women and all the revolutionary and struggling women in the region, and we affirm the legitimacy of the demands surrounding women’s freedom as a main condition towards achieving societal freedom.”

It called on the Iranian authorities to stop their policies of repression, persecution and executions. It also called on relevant international organizations and bodies to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities regarding the blatant violations taking place in Iran against women and young men aspiring to a free and dignified life.
